POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Mary (Miller) Morgan Lavoie, 91, a former longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, and Vero Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 26 at her home in Worcester, Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Leo Morgan, in 1985, and her second husband of 15 years, Richard Lavoie, in 2004. She also was predeceased by her niece, Sharyn Lucille (Real) Elmendorf who she raised after the death of her sister, Anna Muschal.
Lavoie is survived by two sisters, Bernice Petty of Arlington Heights, Ill and Therese Uher of Phillips, Wis.; her granddaughters, Pamela Judge of Auburn, Mass., Cynthia Quintiliani of Mountaintop, Pa., Doreen Baglieri of Highland, Jill Laquidara of Albany; and grandson, Anthony Joseph Real of New Paltz,; grandchildren: Joseph, Thomas and Mary Grace Judge; Lindsay Quintiliani Barry and Jesse Quintiliani; Ashley, Angelo, Alexander and Alana Baglieri; and Antonino Laquidara; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Carl and Regina (Schwendner) Miller. Her remaining six siblings, Viola, Lucille, Charles, Russell, Raymond and George, predeceased her.
After graduating from high school, she earned her associate's degree in bookkeeping. She worked in this field for many years in Poughkeepsie before retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed her retirement years in Vero Beach, Fla. where she lived until moving to Worcester, Mass. several months ago. She was a longtime parishioner of the Catholic parishes of St. Martin de Porres in Poughkeepsie and St. John of the Cross in Vero Beach, Fla.. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, puzzles and crocheting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie. A visiting period will be at the church from 10:30-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
Arrangements are in the care of William G. Miller and Son Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home of Worcester, Mass., is assisting with local arrangements.
